THE untiring efforts of Kota Warisan residents in keeping the housing area clean and tidy did not go unnoticed. It garnered them the Best Garden 2006 award under the Housing Area Pioneer Project Grade System from the Sepang Municipal Council.

The criteria for selection were landscaping, good street lighting and drainage plus an active residents’ association.

Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Khir Toyo presented the award at the council’s first anniversary dinner as a municipality in Cyberjaya on March 24.

The four-year-old township is located near the KL International Airport and Dengkil. It lies within walking distance of the Bandar Baru Salak Tinggi Express Rail Link (ERL) Station.

Kota Warisan Residents’ Association (RA) chairman Mohd Azlan Kasiman said the award was a boost for residents who took pride in keeping their surroundings clean as well as paying attention to the landscaping.

“We work closely with developer Gema Padu Sdn Bhd in ensuring the landscaping in Kota Warisan is maintained through continuous effort.

Well-tended: Clean surroundings and manicured lawns earned Kota Warisan the Best Garden 2006 award from the Sepang Municipal Council.

“We also advise residents to keep their surroundings neat and tidy to project a good image of the township,” he added.

A spokesperson for Gema Padu said the manicured lawns and landscaping were planned to enhance the image of Kota Warisan.

The Kota Warisan RA and Kota Warisan Megah Villa Apartments RA have also jointly drawn up an agenda to draw members of the community closer through various events and activities.

“We are holding a sports carnival on May 6 and have held other events like talks on drug abuse, activities for homemakers, religious celebrations and community cookouts,” said Kota Warisan Megah Villa Apartments RA deputy chairman Wan Kamarudin Wan Mohamad.

He also said the residents’ associations were keen on developing Kota Warisan as the gateway to KLIA, Putrajaya and Cyberjaya.

Plans for a park for extreme sports and an international course for wood ball are in the pipeline.
